At Shawsgate we make a range of wines from Dry through to Medium Sweet white alongside two styles of red wine. When visiting You will also find occasional and small batch wines which could include oaked wines, vintage wines (over 10 years), light reds, and rosé. We are also in the process of preparing our first sparkling wine for sale.

A New wine list to incorporate the new duty increase will be posted on this site shortly.  Below are the tasting notes for our current best sellers.

Bacchus 2004, dry: An attractive dry wine with broad appeal. Elderflower and ripe lemon aromas give way to apple, citrus and grapefruit in the mouth. A rounded acidity complements the fresh fruit flavours and helps provide good length. Increasingly popular, Bacchus has a real following here at Shawsgate with over five years of National and International awards for this variety. The 2004 offering won a Bronze Medal at the English & Welsh wine of the year competition 2006.

Pandora 2004, medium dry: A wine which shows gentle citrus character on the nose.  Light melon, orange, pineapple and grapefruit. The palate has a good strength of tropical fruit flavours beneath a soft rounded acidity, with lingering grapefruit to give length. Our best selling wine, Pandora is perfect for so many occasions, with food, relaxing on a Summers day or enjoyed with friends. You can’t help but open Pandora's box.
